The assignment was to design a calendar using only type. I was inspired by record covers Josef Albers did for Command Records from 1959 to 1961. I found a similar formal language—a grid of simple shapes—when isolating the counterforms of the aligned months set in Akzidenz-Grotesk. Each month name is printed on a sheet of vellum in gray and when flipped, reveals its counterforms along with those of the other months, and its dates, printed in black on paper.

10" x 10" pages. Laserjet on Wassau, inkjet on vellum. 3-Ring Pina Zangaroo easel binder, 12" x 10.5" x 1.5" machined aluminum w/ cut vinyl.
